Stability Control Now Standard for Corolla
Australia's most popular small car - Toyota Corolla – now has stability control (VSC) standard across the range.
Corolla sedan models produced since December - and now available in Toyota dealerships - include standard fitment of VSC, which also comes with traction control.
These two technologies work together to help the driver retain control of the car, particularly in slippery and other low-traction conditions.
An upgrade late last year made stability and traction control standard for Corolla hatch.
VSC automatically applies the brakes to individual wheels and, where appropriate, reduces engine power, helping to "steer" the vehicle where the driver intends to go.
International road-safety experts have said vehicle stability control could prevent nearly one-third of all fatal crashes and reduce rollover risk by as much as 80 per cent.
Traction control, as its name suggests, can help prevent loss of traction of a car's driven wheels.
All Corolla models for the Australian market are produced in Japan. The range has been fully imported since 2000 - the first year in which Corolla achieved small-car leadership.
