HerCar Review

The new Hyundai Tiburon is a great looking car. With twin chrome plated exhaust pipes, 17 inch alloy wheels and sleek headlights. The 2.7 litre engine gives you a great rush especially from 0-60kms per hour. Whilst the look, power and 2 + 2 configuration (seats four) would indicate a sports car, the ride and handling suggest otherwise as it lacks a tight, firm feel.

The Tiburon TS has a good list of safety features including ABS brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) front and side airbags for driver and front passenger all of which you would expect for a car at this price point.

The interior aesthetics are good with really comfy leather seats, silver trim on the dash and around controls and carpet mats with blue trim. The lights are blue when illuminated which adds to the stylish feel. There are some good storage spots including a sunglasses holder, 2 drink holders, a large glovebox, centre storage box, door pockets and a pocket on the rear of the passenger seat. There’s also a nifty storage bin on the right hand side in the rear where you could place your valuable out of view from prying eyes. The boot space is limited in height, due to the sporty hatch style although it is quite generous in depth.

Other standard features include a CD player with MP3 compatibility, cruise control, air conditioning, outside temperature gauge, remote fuel and boot release and remote central locking. One of the highlights is the large glass electric sunroof which gives it a sporty look from the outside and lets the great outdoors into your car when cruising along.

Being a 4 seater sports hatch, there is limited headroom in the rear, great for kids, but not so good for adults. However, there is good space width ways for your rear passengers. While visibility is good out of the front windscreen, reversing gets a little trickier as visibility out of the rear and rear side windows is limited. So beware of the pylons in the car parks!

Overall the Tiburon is a great looking car with plenty of power but lacks a true sports feel when you’re behind the wheel.
